Why is Mike Hamilton Still Around?

As we all know by now Phillip Fulmer was fired from the head coaching job at Tennessee, and Lane Kiffin was hired. Writers like John Pennington believes it was a good idea to fire Fulmer and hire Kiffin. (Even though he's not sure if Kiffin will work out.) I disagree. Fulmer was given a huge contract extension last year by Mike Hamilton. The best thing to do would have been for Hamilton to resign, and this would have given a Fulmer an opportunity to right Tennessee's ship with a new offensive coordinator.

My current question in this whole saga is: How can Mike Hamilton still have his job at Tennessee? If you believe Fulmer should not have been fired (like I do) then obviously Mike Hamilton should be let go. However, if you believe Fulmer should have been fired, then Hamilton should have been fired for giving him a huge contract extension last year. What do you think, should Mike Hamilton be fired?

Hamilton is here to stay. I

Hamilton is here to stay. I mean I really don't know how much his job will hang in the balance with Kiffin's success as a coach but you have to remember (and I am positive he will bring it up if he is ever in the hot seat) that he hired Bruce Pearl who not only turned the Men's Basketball team around but has the entire campus as revved up and ready for basketball season as they normally are for football season.

I personally think that Fulmer's coaching peak had passed but I don't think that Hamilton handled it well when relieving him of his duties and when giving him an extension his contract last year.

But all in all, Hamilton won't be leaving soon and if Kiffin is as successful as Pearl has been, it would take him committing a murder to get fired as AD.

Mike Hamilton should be gone

I agree. There is no way to look at the situation and think that Hamilton has done a good job. The only way this could turn around for him is if Kiffen takes off next year, but usually it takes a few years. Look at Rich Rodriguez. I hope we don't become Michigan.
